Cross curricular lesson planning is a crucial part of education. It is important for students to see how what they are learning in one class can be applied in different content areas. It is also important to create lessons that cross disciplines. The following three lessons all have a strong base in the Humanities English department. All three lessons surround my short story unit and the skills taught in the class. I have decided to include the following content areas in my short story unit: English language learners, social sciences, and art/music.
Cross Curricular Lesson One-ELL
The following lesson discusses teaching context clues to English language learners.
Cross Curricular Lesson Two-Art, Music, and Health
The following lesson assists readers of "The Cask of Amontillado" in understanding the setting of the catacombs. This lesson is a schema building activity.
Cross Curricular Lesson Three-Social Sciences
The following lessons are to be completed after reading Edgar Allan Poe's "The Cask of Amontillado." It looks at primary sources and the Freemasons. It also has a Google Maps activity about the catacombs.
